To remove a bicycle hub gear, you will first need to remove the rear wheel from the bike. Then, you will need to use a chain whip to hold the gear in place while using a cassette lockring tool to loosen and remove the lockring. Once the lockring is removed, you can slide the gear off the hub. Be sure to keep track of any washers or spacers that may be on the hub, as you will need to reinstall them when putting the gear back on. **

A defective bicycle hub gear system is a mechanical issue with the internal gearing mechanism of the bicycle's rear hub. This can result in the gears not shifting smoothly or skipping, making it difficult to maintain a consistent and efficient pedaling cadence. It can also cause the gears to slip or fail to engage properly, leading to a loss of power and control while riding. A defective hub gear system can significantly impact the performance and safety of the bicycle. **

The hub gear did not work for about a week. During this time, the gear was not functioning properly, causing inconvenience and disruption to the bike's performance. However, after a week, the issue was resolved and the hub gear started working again. **

Without physically inspecting the hub gear, it is difficult to determine if the thread is broken. However, signs of a broken thread may include difficulty shifting gears, grinding or slipping when pedaling, or visible damage to the gear mechanism. If you suspect the thread is broken, it is best to have a professional bike mechanic inspect and repair the hub gear to ensure safe and proper functioning. **
